A short guide about Mutitjulu Waterhole

At the base of Uluru, there are "waterholes" which are critical sources of water for the aboriginal people and animals in the area. Falling rain streaming down Uluru has worn away the rock, forming gorges and plunge pools. This is the place to tour the very famous Mutitjulu Waterhole, which has been in use by humans and animals for thousands of years. You could easily spend hours walking around and marveling at the sensational scenery in the Kata Tjuta National Park.

There are many special holy places around Uluru; most of them may not be visited, and some should not be photographed. Mutitjulu Waterhole is an Exception - you can visit it, but you are expected to resist the urge to jump into the cool water. There are also some ancient Aboriginal paintings at the site, and a small creek flowing from the waterhole, with green plants and birds.
