A short guide about Adventure travel to Iceland

Imagine visiting Iceland! This amazing vacation destination was settled in the 9th century by Norse Vikings and word has it that Leif Ericsson named Iceland and Greenland like he did – to get explorers to go to Greenland... only to find millions of square miles of ice!

Tour the Greater Reykjavik Area to visit the lively cosmopolitan capital of Reykjavik, view the spectacular Northern Lights and soak in the Blue Lagoon. Isafjordur is the main town in The Westfjords; where you can visit the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve on the rim of the inhabitable world. Visit West Iceland for a showcase of lava formations, geothermal activity and tour the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, and view the mystical Snaefellsjokull Glacier. Visit Breidafjordur bay in The Westfjords providing the largest bird-cliff; Latrabjarg Cliff.

North Iceland defies the imagination and here the midnight sun is at its most glorious. Visit the Jokulsargljufur National Park to tour the Asbyrgi Canyon and Dettifoss Waterfall. Swim in Akureyri’s heated pools, or visit Lake Myvatn, Godafoss, or the island of Grimsey in the Arctic Circle. In South Iceland visit the Thingvellir National Park and the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon, or tour the town of Vestmannaeyjar on the island of Heimaey.

Visit East Iceland; “the realm of Vatnajokull” – where the land is greener, the glacier whiter, and the volcanic sands blacker, including Borgarfjordur Eystri. And if you really want to get away from it all – tour the interior of Iceland’s Highland Region to visit Landmannalaugar and the Porsmork Nature Reserve.

Tourabout has catalogued quite a variety of vacation packages to Iceland – The country attracts visitors year round, thanks to its diversity in landscape and contrast of lights. The island is bustling with subterranean activity, forming a boundless supply of geothermal heat so if it all gets to be too much; visit the "hot pots" where you can soak away the stress.
