Ecuador is a small country in South America and named after the fact that it lies exactly on the Equator. Ecuador neighbours Peru and Colombia, even though they are larger countries, Ecuador is their equal as a tourist destination.

Ecuador offers beautiful old towns, such as it's capital Quito, which is filled with museums, churches, old mansions as well as shops and small restaurants. Then there is Santo Domingo, a rapid growing city which is centrally located to the coastal side of the country with a warmer climate. The highland of the Andes, with its many Indian villages have colourful markets that every photographer and shopper will find an absolute treat. High mountain tops and active volcanoes are never far away.

The Amazon basin a tropical forest that offers wildlife and hiking possibilities and the chance to get to know the habits of the Indians that live in the Amazon region. Finally a visit the Galapagos Islands is a must for all nature lovers. A Galapagos adventure tour starts at the Baltra Airport located on the island of Santa Cruz. There are over 58 species of birds including a high percentage of wildlife. The Galapagos Penguin, Red-footed Boobies, and the infamous Galapagos Tortoise, sea lions and Iguanas can all be spotted on the uninhabited islands from your resort window! The Islands offer many animals you will not find anywhere else in the world.

We are a registered Australian Company (ABN: 65 110 269 380) and licensed travel agent (NSW 2TA5968). As a registered operator we are also fully bonded members of the Travel Compensation Fund which is a fund that ensures our customers money is held safely giving peace of mind. This is a requirement of us under Australian law. Please always check that any tour you book has the same level of bonding and protection to the consumer. Chimu and the Local Community Chimu Adventures was a company set up with the vision to support and help develop local communities within Latin America. Chimu Adventures annually donates a portion of its profits to local communities, assisting them with local community projects. Local communities are selected on the basis of their needs and ambitions. We are currently working with Project Peru, A UK based Non Government Organization which runs an orphanage in Zapallao in the shanty town outskirts of Lima. We can organise a visit to the orphanage as part of your trip to Peru, or if you have any time or skills to volunteer we would like to hear from you!
